Seiyo No Shorin-Ryu Karate Kobudo Kai is an international martial arts association based upon the concepts of ancient traditional Okinawan karate modified with modern concepts developed by its founder and 1st generation grandmaster W. Dan Hausel, 10th dan. Traditions are considered utmost importance in our art, along with developing powerful ki 'energy', kata comprehension and performance, and bunkai (applications) for all techniques in all kata.

Our association accepts applications from Shorin-Ryu Karate & Kobudo martial artists, schools and associations as well as from Shorin-Ryu derivative martial arts (i.e. Shotokan, Wado, Kyokushinkai, etc). Groups or individuals interested can apply for membership or associate membership to Soke Hausel. Do so by returning a completed application (pdf) with fees to:

Include: (A) Completed membership pdf application with (B) US$30 fee for your first year membership.

Accepted members will receive:

(1) Membership card,
(2) Seiyo Shorin-Ryu window decal,
(3) Patch to be placed over the heart (left side) of your gi, &
(4) Monthly newsletter by mail.


As a member, you will be requested to learn our system of Shorin-Ryu Karate & Kobudo. This can be done by: (1) attending clinics taught by Soke Hausel, (2) learning from an approved Seiyo Shorin0-Ryu instructor (see instructor's list), (3) learning from DVD's available from our website and testing by video.

Annual dues are US$30/year.

Seiyo No Shorin-Ryu Karate Kobudo Kai is a tradional (non-sport) martial art that is designed for self-improvement, self-esteem and the art is designed to teach pragmatic self-defense, one-punch knockouts and realistic kata.
